North Shelby Downs South Shelby in Rematch

Five days after being beaten by South Shelby the North Shelby Lady Raiders got revenge with a 6-2 victory over the Ladybirds Thursday night. North Shelby starting pitcher Addy Uhlmeyer used a double play to work out of a first inning jam. She then gave the Lady Raiders the lead in the bottom half of the frame.

Uhlmeyer silenced the Ladybird bats as she tossed a complete game allowing two runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Coach Amber Klusmeyer discussed Uhlmeyer’s performance.

The Lady Raiders outhit the Ladybirds 6-4. Catcher Marissa McEwen went a perfect 4-4 at the plate with one RBI and threw out two South Shelby runners attempting to steal. Klusmeyer said her and Uhlmeyer make a great combo on the field.

The Lady Raiders improved to 11-6-2 with the victory. Sofia Eleazararaz led the Ladybirds with two singles while Madison Wilt drove in both of their runs. Coach Sarah Elliott said she liked the approach her team had at the plate.

Callie McWilliams suffered the loss as she went six innings allowing six runs on six hits. She tallied four strikeouts but was hurt by four walks, four errors and two hit batters. Despite the defeat Elliott said she was pleased with McWilliams’ performance.

The Ladybirds drop to 9-10 on the season. They’ll continue play this weekend at the La Plata Tournament. The Lady Raiders return to action Monday at Atlanta. You can hear full postgame interviews with both coaches online at centralmoinfo.com
