The Monroe City City Council Tuesday gave final approval for a deal with Clarence Cannon Water Commission to be the city’s water utility contractor. During the meeting, the council voted to proceed with engineering and grant applications. Mayor Jerry Potterfield explains the process for getting the new supplier up and running.

Potterfield adds the planning process is moving along swiftly.

The project is expected to take two to three years to complete. However, Potterfield says an exact timeline for it is hard to pinpoint.

The water deal comes on the heels of six months of discussions by city officials.
