MoDOT Working Through Private Property Acquisition Process for Route 3 Repairs

Highway 3 in Randolph County has been closed between Highway 24 and Route BB since March of 2021 due to a slide. MoDOT plans to shift the impacted road to the west and then lower it to stable ground. MoDOT Director Patrick McKenna says they’re being held up in their attempt to acquire the right-of-way at the site.

Area residents impacted by the lengthy closure attended a meeting Monday night in Huntsville to voice their frustrations on the delay of repairs and a lack of communication from MoDOT. McKenna says he sympathizes with their concerns.

McKenna explains the expected timeline for repairs.

MoDOT initially hoped to have the right-of-way acquired in the spring so construction could begin later this year.
