Moberly Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

A registered sex-offender from Moberly has pleaded guilty Monday to new federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography. 38-year-old David Earl Dey pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. In August 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office learned Dey had child sexual abuse material that he kept on flash drives. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office also received a tip he had uploaded child pornography. Dey denied owning flash drives or computers, but a court-approved search found a cell phone and two hidden laptops, with more than 100 videos and 700 images containing child pornography, many showing the sexual abuse of toddlers. Dey was convicted in 2008 of first-degree statutory sodomy, first-degree child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child. Dey is scheduled to be sentenced May 1st, with both sides recommending 15 years in prison.
