Moberly Boys Soccer Looks to Trend Upwards in Pretz’s Second Season

The 2022 season featured many growing pains for a young Moberly boys soccer team under first-year head coach Bridger Pretz. The Spartans return much of last year’s roster that went 4-19-1. Pretz says it’s been a promising start to preseason practice.

That strong group of juniors will complement a group of five seniors for this season. Pretz expects his team to learn from last season’s mistakes.

The new season brings a new formation for the Spartans. Pretz says this change should benefit their backline.

The new formation will be a 3-1-4-2. This means the Spartans will play with two strikers at one time, rather than one. Pretz says this new formation should make them more dangerous offensively.

The Spartans get their first taste of live action next Friday at the Fulton Jamboree. Their regular season opener is August 31st at the Missouri Military Academy.
