Missouri House to Consider Sweeping Senate Education Bill

The Missouri House of Representatives will consider a wide-ranging education bill that was passed by the Senate last week. Representative Cheri Toalson Reisch of Hallsville says one of the key provisions deals with the state’s K-through-12 tax credit scholarship program.

The bill also includes a boost in public school funding, teacher retention provisions and the expansion of charter schools to Boone County. Toalson Reisch filed a bill earlier in the session for that expansion. She says the House will need to be considerate of any changes.

The Senate approved the bill 20-13. The House will begin debating it within the next couple of weeks.
