Missouri House Approves Bill Easing Requirements for Older Bus Drivers

The Missouri House of Representatives has passed a bill sponsored by Representative Danny Busick of Newtown that eases requirements for senior bus drivers. Representative Cheri Toalson Reisch of Hallsville says this is a beneficial bill for schools.

House Bill 1626 is designed to address Missouri’s ongoing school bus driver shortage. It passed the House by a vote of 114-29. Toalson Reisch says they’re trying to get these new regulations implemented quickly.

The emergency clause was defeated 142-6. The bill now advances to the Senate for further consideration.
