North Shelby Bats Come Alive to Beat Bevier

The North Shelby Raiders pounded out 12 runs on 13 hits in a 12-4 victory over the Bevier Wildcats on Monday evening. The Wildcats got out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a pair of RBI doubles by Blake Williams. The Raiders responded in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double by Austin Wilson and an RBI single by Gannon Bowen. Bo Bacon followed with the go-ahead hit for the Raiders.

North Shelby added four runs in the fourth inning capped by another RBI double by Wilson. The Raiders tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning to cap their scoring. Kaden Hunolt led the offensive effort with three singles for the Raiders. Bacon, Wilson and Grady Gander all had two hits each. Coach Scott Gaines said it was good to see the bottom of the lineup have a good hitting day.

Hunolt also earned the win on the mound going four innings with three strikeouts. He allowed three runs on three hits in the game. Gaines said Hunolt showed good mental toughness.

The Raiders have now won seven straight and sit at 9-3 on the season. They were helped by six Bevier errors. Coach Jed Cook says defensive miscues continue to hurt them.

Landen Teter suffered the loss for the Wildcats going three innings and allowing five runs on seven hits. Aside from Williams’ doubles, Blake Moore provided the only other hit. Cook says they need to refocus ahead of district play on Friday.
