Missouri Girls Wrestling Team Wins Freestyle Junior National Duals

Missouri brought two girls wrestling teams to the Freestyle Junior National Duals in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week and one of them claimed the national championship. Missouri Fire defeated a team from Michigan 39-28 to win it. The team included Jayci Shelton of Centralia, who went 5-2 over the two-day event, and Jayden Keller of Brookfield, who went 2-5. The team also notched wins over Colorado, Pennsylvania, Iowa, California, Wisconsin and Georgia. Missouri Ice placed fifth in the Red/Blue bracket, which was comprised of teams that took either 5th or 6th in pool play Wednesday. Breanne Gibbs of Moberly won five of her eight matches. Missouri Ice defeated teams from Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Idaho. 41 teams in total competed.
