Truman Headed to the Elite Eight, Horner Named Midwest Region Coach of the Year

Cade McKnight and Turner Scott were named to the All-Tournament team after leading Truman to a Midwest Regional Championship last week. McKnight was named the Regional MVP and he said the Elite Eight is wide open.

Coming into this season, the Bulldogs were missing an NBA-type talent in Brodric Thomas. Scott said the returners wanted to make sure the program didn’t take a step back.

Cade McKnight, Turner Scott and the Truman State Bulldogs will play Flagler, Florida in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Wednesday night at the Ford Center in Evansville. You can hear the game on Superstation KRES starting with the Truman Tipoff at 8:25pm. It will be the last of four National Quarterfinal games. The other matchups will pit top seed West Texas A&M against Daemon of New York, Lincoln Memorial of Tennessee and Colorado School of Mines in the 4-5 game, and two seed Northwest Missouri State versus West Liberty of West Virginia.

Ahead of the Elite Eight this week, Truman State coach Jeff Horner and redshirt junior post Cade McKnight received honors in the Midwest Region. Horner was named the Region’s Coach of the Year and McKnight was on the All-District First Team.
