Marceline Defeats Salisbury In Lewis & Clark Rematch

The Marceline Tigers defeated the Salisbury Panthers 32-13 at Chester Ray Stadium. Marceline got on the board first after a 21-yard Dax Thomas touchdown run. Salisbury delivered the response late into the 1st quarter.

Conner Quinn scored the next two touchdowns for Marceline to create a 25-6 lead. Both teams delivered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to close out the contest.

Four different Marceline players rushed for 55 yards or more. Thomas and Quinn each ran for over 100 yards unofficially. Coach Joey Peterson talked about the versality his team displayed.

Marceline will face the top seed in the district as the Tigers travel to face the Milan Wildcats next week.

Salisbury finished with over 300 yards of total offense in the contest. Brayden White ran for over 140 yards with a touchdown. Sophomore Gavin Binder hauled in eight catches for 77 yards. Coach Oren Magruder said Marceline presented a tough defensive game plan.

Salisbury graduates four seniors. Magruder said he is optimistic for Salisbury football moving forward with a strong sophomore class.

The Panthers finish the season 4-6. Marceline improves to 7-3.
