Macon, Clark County Meet for Second Week in a Row

The Macon Tigers and Clark County Indians meet for the second time in a week after the two squads battled in week nine. Macon enters the Class 2 District 7 postseason as the number three seed at 5-4, while six seed Clark County concluded the regular season 1-8.

Macon defeated Clark County 54-30 in week nine. The Tigers offense is averaging 33 points a game and has surpassed the 40 point mark three times this season. Macon head coach Joey Peterson says quarterback Mykel Linear, running back Trevin Shrum, and wide receiver Chrisjen Riekeberg, who all earned all-CCC selections, have played crucial roles for the Tigers this year.

The Tigers have scored 299 points this season, but have also allowed 300 points on the other side of the ball. Peterson says his defense needs to get better push up front.

Clark County is seeking its first win since defeating Wright City week one. Indians head coach Ethan Allen says that while the regular season did not go as envisioned, a positive takeaway was seeing several younger players gain valuable experience.

Allen says quarterback Callan Wheeler and running back Jonny Shinn played effectively in last week’s matchup. Defensively, Allen says the Indians must contain the deep passing game of the Tigers and that Riekeberg will be a focus.

Historically, these two teams have been evenly matched. Clark County has won nine of the last 17 matchups, and the two squads have split their last four postseason meetings. Coverage of this matchup starts at 6:40 on Superstation KRES. Brandon Monty will have the call.
