Under the new guidelines, proper mask wearing may now prevent someone from being identified as close contacts in K-12 schools that have implemented a mask mandate. Jarvis says individuals who do not wear a mask and are deemed as a close contact would need to quarantine for 14 days.

The quarantined students would continue instruction virtually.
