MACC Teams Advance in Region 16 Tournament

Both MACC basketball teams advanced in the Region 16 Tournament Thursday night, as the Lady Hounds beat Crowder 60-56 in a first round matchup, and the Greyhounds beat State Fair 94-71 in a semifinal. The Lady Hounds started the game strong.

Moberly led by as many as 18 in the first half, but Crowder fought back to go up one momentarily in the fourth quarter. The Lady Hounds outscored the Roughriders 11-6 the rest of the way, with Jordan Labrador-Hallett hitting one of two free throws with 12 seconds left to make it a two-possession game. She finished with a team-high 12. Coach Erika Harris expected a tough contest.

The Lady Hounds are now 13-16, and will visit top-seeded Three Rivers Tuesday night. Crowder’s season ends at 7-23.

The Moberly men almost went wire-to-wire, getting out to a 49-26 halftime lead. Nelson Reynolds led all scorers with 24.

The Greyhounds will play at Mineral Area Saturday night. The Cardinals beat Three Rivers in the other semifinal 79-65. State Fair’s season ends at 11-19.
