Luetkemeyer Says Budget Cuts Needed

Congressional leaders over the weekend agreed to spending totals for this year’s budget, providing 886 billion dollars in defense funding and 704 billion dollars in non-defense spending. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer said last week there need to be some spending cuts, to try to keep the credit rating agencies from downgrading America’s debt.

The actual budget bills still need to be written and passed to avoid a partial government shutdown. Under the deal from last November, some departments have funding through January 19th, and others through February 2nd.
