Lewis and Clark Dominates District Golf
Three Lewis and Clark teams qualified for boys state golf with their district performances at Heritage Hills Monday. Marceline captured the Class 1, District 2 championship with a 332. Westran placed second at 342. Salisbury also earned a state berth because four Panthers qualified in individual competition. Westran senior Logan Bain claimed low medalist with a 75.
Marceline coach Mike Severa reacted to the Tigers’ district title.
Marceline’s Jacob Stallo and Lance O’Dell tied for third. Westran reached its sixth straight state tournament. Coach Jeff Schleicher expressed confidence ahead of the trip to Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield next week.
The back-to-back individual district champion Bain shared Westran’s approach.
Schleicher complimented the senior Bain.
Bain shot 77 in the first round of state last year but ended 17th after a second-round 92. Bain explains what he learned from the appearance.
