In the first year of moving to a four-day school week in La Plata, employee absences are down, substitute teacher expenses are down, and student attendance is up slightly. Superintendent Dr. Craig Noah says more schools will likely consider this option at some point.

At this point, Noah says he has become a strong supporter of the four-day school weeks.

Noah is especially keeping an eye on some of the larger districts, to see if they will consider making the move.

Over 60 districts in Missouri have already made the switch to a four-day school week.
