Joyce-GLVC Freshman Of The Year-Weltha First Team For The 3rd Straight Year

Truman State’s Molly Joyce was voted the Freshman of the Year and Ellie Weltha picked up her third straight first team all-Great Lakes Valley Conference honor when the league announced the results of the coaches votes on Wednesday.

In conference games, Joyce led all league freshmen in points (11.9), field goals made (93), finished second in steals (25) and rebounds per game (3.8). She is the third Truman player to earn GLVC Freshman of the Year following Hannah Belanger in 2020 and Katie Jaseckas in 2018. Rhonda Soper (1989) and Felicia Sutton (1988) earned the award in the MIAA era of the program.

Weltha becomes only the fifth Bulldog to earn all-league honors for four seasons and joins former teammate Hannah Belanger as the only other three-time first-team selection. Weltha averaged 17.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounds ranking third in scoring and fourth in overall rebounding in the conference. She had 10 double-doubles.
