John Dabney to be Inducted Into Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame
Two years removed from his final game as Milan’s head football coach, John Dabney is set to take his place in the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Dabney is among a class of four coaches to be inducted on December 8th. He discusses his reaction.
Dabney’s career spanned nearly 30 years at the high school level, beginning at Knox County. He began his tenure at Milan in 2006 with a 6-4 record. The Wildcats steadily improved and had a run of four consecutive undefeated regular seasons from 2011 to 2014. His tenure at Milan also allowed him to coach his sons Ryan and Dominic. He adds seeing former assistant coaches thrive as head coaches has been a rewarding experience.
Current Milan coach Mark Cole was an assistant for Dabney during his final two seasons with the Wildcats. Dabney says football coaches have a tight bond.
Dabney currently serves as a running backs coach for the Truman State Bulldogs. His wife Andrea is entering her 17th year as the Milan boy’s basketball coach.
