For the second time already this season, Central Methodist senior Mercedes Jefflo was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Jefflo led the Eagles with 24 points in a win on the road over 19th-ranked Clarke last Wednesday, then poured in 23 in Saturday’s win over Graceland. The Compton, California, native is averaging 24.4 points per game on the year, good for second in the NAIA, as well as 4.8 steals a game and 5.6 assists per game, ranking third and 10th in the NAIA respectively. Jefflo leads the Heart in all three categories, and is second in the conference in total scoring.
