Huskey Touchdown Helps Propel Truman To A Season-Opening Win In Ohio

Mason Huskey’s 66-yard catch and run for a touchdown early in the third quarter gave Truman the lead for good and the Bulldogs won their season-opener at Findlay, Ohio 20-10 Saturday. The Hallsville native came on the third play of the second half and broke a 10-10 tie at halftime. On the next third quarter possession, the Bulldogs used ten plays to set up a Grant Ross 42-yard field goal for the final score. Ross also connected on a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter to go along with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Nolan Hair to Zach Zerwig.

Truman’s defense picked up where it left off last season holding the Oilers to 263 yards. As part of the second half shutout, Isaiah Estes of Fayette and Peyton Carr of Columbia both picked off passes.

Huskey led Truman in rushing with 47 yards on 12 attempts, and in receiving yards with 67. Noah Copeland of Kirksville had two receptions for 28 yards.
