The replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and the Katy Trail in Howard County is scheduled to begin Monday, according to MoDOT. The 80-year-old bridge will be replaced by a smoother, wider bridge, which will improve motorist safety. Route 40 could be closed for up to six months while construction takes place. A detour will be in place for motorists along the highway, as well as those using the Katy Trail. The bridge is included in Governor Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
