Part of Governor Mike Parson’s budget proposal is a state worker pay increase. Representative Peggy McGaugh of Carrollton says the increase would help deal with staffing shortages in areas such as the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

Parson is requesting a $15 minimum wage and a 5.5 percent cost of living increase for all state workers. McGaugh, a member of the House Budget Committee, explains the early process of Parson’s budget proposal.

The deadline for the Missouri Legislature to pass a balanced budget is May 6th.
