Hounds Lose District Championship at Triton

The Moberly Greyhounds lost the district championship game at Triton Saturday afternoon 84-81. Moberly led 47-35 at halftime, but the Trojans started the second half on a ten-nothing run to make it a game. The game was tied five times in the second half, including at 81-all with 1:10 remaining. Moberly had the ball down three with 2.4 seconds left, but Tekao Carpenter’s three at the buzzer rimmed out. Coach Pat Smith said Triton has the best offense they’ve seen all season.

Triton is 31-2, and clinches the automatic berth in the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Moberly, at 25-8, finds out Sunday night if it earned an at-large berth.
