Hot Start For Moberly Secures Return Trip to State Quarterfinals

The Moberly Lady Spartans secured a second straight trip to the state quarterfinals with a 68-45 win over the Orchard Farm Lady Eagles Monday. Moberly had the hot hand from the jump.

Austin Ward with the calls on KWIX and centralmoinfo.com. That lead extended to 23-9 early in the second quarter. The Lady Eagles went on a mini run to cut it to eight, but the three-point onslaught continued.

Grace Billington finished with a game-high 22 points. Haley Baker scored 19. Asa Fanning and Mia Faught contributed 17 and 10 respectively. Coach Tony Vestal’s 27-2 Lady Spartans knocked down eight total threes in the first half.

Vestal said Orchard Farm was tough to play.

Addison Brown led the Lady Eagles with 13 points. Vestal loved the atmosphere.
