Horner Looks Back At Truman’s Season-GLVC And Missouri NCAA D2 Tourney Bids

A Truman men’s basketball team that was picked last in the GLVC Preseason Poll finished 4th in a 14 team league. Lack of respect came from a total overhaul of the roster including the arrival of five freshmen. GLVC Coach of the Year Jeff Horner says they will need to get stronger….

Kobi Williams was named GLVC Freshman of the Year. Horner says it was a learning season…..

The Bulldogs finished a 15-14 season with a two-point loss to William Jewell, who went on to win the GLVC Tournament. Despite beating Indianapolis in the semifinals, UIndy will host the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional and Jewell will have to play the Greyhounds again. Upper Iowa received the seven seed and will play Kentucky Wesleyan.

Former Truman State starters Elijah Hazekamp and Dylan Peeters are part of the Minnesota State-Mankato program that will host the Central Regional. Northwest Missouri State is the second seed and will play Southwest Minnesota State.

GLVC Women’s Tournament champion, Lewis, is the six seed in the Midwest Regional hosted by Grand Valley State. The Flyers will play Ferris State. Drury is the seven seed and will face Ashland. The women’s Central Regional will be hosted by Southern Nazerene. Missouri Western is the second seed and will play Minnesota State. Northwest Missouri State is the six seed and will play conference rival Fort Hays State.
