Motorists will see extra law enforcement out on the state’s highways and waterways this weekend. Corporal Justin Dunn is the Public Information Officer with the State Highway Patrol.

The public can help keep the roads safe.

The State Highway Patrol counts Friday at 6pm until Monday at 11:59pm as the Memorial Day holiday counting period. Last year, 10 people died and 442 were injured in 1,017 traffic crashes over the Memorial Day weekend. There were 12 boating crashes which included one fatality and three injuries. One person drowned, and troopers made 57 driving while intoxicated and eight boating while intoxicated arrests.
