Earlier this week, Knox County High School Athletic Director Keith Gudehus was introduced as the school’s new boys basketball coach. Gudehus explains the circumstances that brought about him stepping into the head coaching position.

The school district was able to fill the teaching position, but the boys basketball coaching position remained vacant until Gudehus was named the head coach at last week’s board meeting. Prior to being officially hired, Gudehus spent the past couple of months running the team’s practices. Gudehus says he’s optimistic about what this team is capable of.

Gudehus previously coached the Knox County girls basketball team from 2013 to 2017. During his tenure, the Lady Eagles went 76-37 and reached the Class 2 Quarterfinals in 2014. Gudehus says his coaching perspective will remain largely the same.

The Knox County boys basketball team compiled a 12-14 record this past season.
