Greyhounds Lose Battle of Ranked Teams

The 12th ranked Moberly Greyhounds lost to 5th-ranked Vincennes 76-67 Saturday night at Fitzsimmons-John Arena. Moberly trailed by as many as 14 in the first half before coming back in the second.

J.B. Connoley with the call on KWIX and centralmoinfo.com. Tekao Carpenter led Moberly with 16. It was tied 61-all with 4:15 remaining, with the Trailblazers finishing on a 15-six run to win the game. Coach Pat Smith said he was proud of his team’s fight.

Moberly falls to 6-3, and plays John A. Logan at the St. Louis Shootout next Sunday. Vincennes improves to 9-0.

The Lady Hounds opened their game on 26-nothing run and beat Spoon River 97-41. Cita Del Valle finished with a game-high 23. Coach Erika Harris said they set some goals before the game.

Moberly has won six straight and is now 6-1. They play at Southwestern Illinois Wednesday. Spoon River is 0-9.
