Green City’s Donnie Fields to Resign at the End of the School Year

For nearly two full decades, Donnie Fields has worked at his alma mater in Green City. He has served as the boys’ basketball coach since 2011, as well as being Green City’s athletic director and the boys’ track coach. However, he will be resigning from all of those positions at the end of this school year. Fields explains his decision.

Fields will maintain a teaching position next year. While retirement is nearing, Fields says he still has plans to stay very close to the Green City School District.

Over the past five seasons, Fields led the boys’ basketball team to three district titles and quarterfinal appearances in the last two seasons. Green City went 23-7 this past season. Fields says the program is in a good place for his successor.

Fields will coach the Green City boys’ track team through the current season. The Gophers are the defending Class 1 State Champions.
