He added an RBI single to key a three-run fifth inning as the Gophers broke the game open over the final three innings. Green City coach Dale Whitacre said his team had success against both North Shelby pitchers, Casey Shockley and Cole Browning.

Green City scored in every inning except the third. The Gophers were previously held to three runs on two hits over their two district tournament games. On the mound, Jaden O’Haver pitched five-and-two-thirds innings allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four. Whitacre said he liked how his young starting pitcher battled.

O’Haver was helped by two double plays turned behind him. One came in the first inning after the Raiders had already scored and had the bases load with one out. The Raiders also missed an opportunity with the bases loaded and nobody out in the second inning. North Shelby coach Scott Gaines said those missed chances were costly.

The Raiders also committed seven costly errors in the contest. North Shelby concluded the season with a record of 11-7. Gaines said he was proud of how this group of players came together as a team.

North Shelby graduates four seniors from this year’s team. Green City advances to host Platte Valley in a Class 1 Quarterfinal on Wednesday. You can hear the full postgame interviews online at centralmoinfo.com.
