GLVC Preseason Favorite Lewis Holds Off Truman

Grace Hilber scored 26 points to help Lewis fend off a Truman comeback for a 72-68 victory at Pershing Arena Monday night. The Flyers built a 14-point lead with 8:39 left. The Bulldogs outscored the GLVC’s preseason favorite 22-10 to get within two points and 70-68 on a steal and basket by Emma Bulman, with 42 seconds left. Truman had one more possession to tie or take the lead and turned the ball over. Lewis guard Jenna Badali hit two free throws for the final margin.

Ellie Weltha recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 25 points and 15 rebounds. She moved into 9th place on Truman’s all-time scoring list. Bulman finished with 10. The Bulldogs drop to 3-5 and 0-2 in the conference. Lewis improves to 2-0 in the league and 3-2 overall.
