Garrett Sentenced to 20 Years

The Moberly man who pled guilty to the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child in a fatal D-W-I crash in April was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in prison. 47-year-old Steven Garrett was charged with two counts of second degree murder, four counts of DWI, and one count of armed criminal action for the accident April 6th that killed 22-year-old Maya Stilwell, and injured two other people, along Route M east of Highway 63. He pled guilty in September. The State Highway Patrol says Garrett’s car crossed the center line and hit the other car head on.
