Forest Lake to Close For Two Days

The city of Kirksville will close Forest Lake, in Thousand Hills State Park, for all recreational activities Tuesday and Wednesday to treat for the invasive species known as curly-leaf pond-weed. Boating, fishing, swimming, and all other activity on or in Forest Lake will be prohibited and the boat ramp will be closed. This is the third year of a three-year treatment plan. If this process must be postponed due to weather, the city will notify the public. Forest Lake provides drinking water to all Adair County residents. The city will draw water from Hazel Creek Lake during the treatment process.
