Five Died on Missouri Roads Over New Year’s

Five people died and 59 were injured in 115 traffic crashes on Missouri roads between six Friday night and 11:59 Monday night, according to the State Highway Patrol. State troopers investigated the 115 crashes, with 59 injuries, and three deaths; and arrested 139 for DWI. Local police Columbia and Kansas City each investigated one traffic death. Last year during the New Year’s counting period, six people died and 345 were hurt in 925 crashes, including 236 crashes investigated by the Highway Patrol, with two dead and 81 injured in those. Troopers arrested 105 people for driving while intoxicated last year.
