Federal Funds Impacting State Budget Process

With just a handful of weeks remaining in the 2022 Missouri Legislative Session, the House Budget Committee is working quickly to pass a balanced budget. Committee member Representative Peggy McGaugh says federal funds are proving challenging to the budget process.
Missouri has received more than $1 billion in COVID-19 relief funds. McGaugh says the committee is making progress in determining where the funds need to go.
That progress has allowed the Missouri House Budget Committee to make up time lost due to winter weather earlier in the session. Legislators must pass a balanced budget by May 6th.
