Experienced Moberly Lineup Ready To Make Some Noise

A junior-heavy varsity roster has Moberly baseball fans excited about taking the next step. Wins jumped from 5 to 11 their freshmen season, to 15 as sophomores, which was the most since 2016. Spartans coach Tony Vestal likes his deep pitching staff….

Those players will also anchor the lineup that includes just one senior in first baseman Connor Moore….

The Spartans lost their district opener to Mexico 11-1 last year and the program hasn’t experienced a district win since 2016. Vestal says they need offense to make some noise in the postseason….

Moberly will open the new season at Macon Friday. The Spartans then host Clark County Saturday, Sturgeon on Monday and New Franklin on Tuesday.

You can hear interviews with area baseball coaches on the First Pitch Show next Thursday at 5:35 on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com.
