Dominant Post Play Sends North Shelby Lady Raiders to Class 1 Quarterfinals

The North Shelby Lady Raiders season continues after picking up a 73-44 victory over the Meadville Eagles in Class 1 sectionals Wednesday. North Shelby went on an 8-0 run to start the second quarter.

Scott Lunte with the call on Glory 97 and centralmoinfo.com. Sophomore forwards Caroline Linberger and Ava Williams controlled the interior all game long and scored 31 and 29 points respectively. Lady Raider coach Landon Daniel said those two played their guts out.

North Shelby’s defense also held Meadville’s offense to one field goal in the first 12 minutes of the game. Eagle coach Drew Nier said Meadville’s pressure never bothered North Shelby, and they never got into any kind of offensive groove.

Sophomore Mallory Dennis scored 22 for the Eagles as their season comes to a close at 23-4. North Shelby improves to 18-5 and host second ranked Leeton in the Class 1 quarterfinals Saturday.
