The Milan School District is preparing to begin the second phase of its long-range facilities project. The first area of focus will be on the construction of new elementary school classrooms. However, Superintendent Dr. Ben Yocom reports initial cost estimates for this project are coming in higher than expected.

As a result, the Milan School Board is looking at different ways to shrink the cost of the project.

The construction of the new classrooms is expected to last a year. Other planned projects for the second phase are a new floor in the old gym and a new HVAC system for the elementary school.
