Columbia Police Investigating Shots Fired Incident

Columbia Police responded to a shots fired incident around 2 am Thursday in the 2600 block of Old Highway 63. Officers arrived and located a juvenile male with a life-threatening injury from a gunshot. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS. Two juvenile males have been detained for 2nd degree assault and armed criminal action. They were both released to the custody of Boone County juvenile authorities. The investigation revealed that this was not a random act of violence. The detained juveniles and the victim were known to each other. This is an ongoing investigation.
