Columbia Man Identified in Sunday Shooting

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has identified a man who was shot and killed Sunday while fleeing from law enforcement. 37-year-old Blain Johnson of Columbia had been under investigation for a possible vehicle theft and kidnapping. Deputies tried to stop him around 10:30am Sunday near Lake of the Woods when he fled in his vehicle. He drove to a field off Rangeline Road, got out, and displayed a weapon as he fled on foot. The State Highway Patrol will take over the investigation.
