The Clarence City Council voted Monday to deny a carnival the opportunity to set up on city parks and streets next month. Clarence City Clerk Cindy Bowman says the vote had a razor-thin margin.

The carnival company, Kenny’s Funland, typically sets up at the Clarence Homecoming. With this year’s Clarence Homecoming cancelled, Bowman says they were attempting to return to Clarence to run their carnival from August 5th through the 8th.

It is unknown at this time if the carnival will still come to Clarence in early August. During the meeting, the council also voted to extend an ordinance by another 90 days to allow the mayor and city administrator of Clarence to conduct business in the event a city council meeting can’t be held during the pandemic.
