Chase Leads to Ralls County Arrest

A New London man was arrested following a pursuit with deputies from the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday. Deputies were dispatched to the Casey’s location in the 400 block of West First Street for a report of a vehicle driving in a careless manner, and on arrival saw the vehicle with multiple occupants. When a deputy tried to make contact with the male driver, the suspect rammed the deputy’s patrol car, then cement pylons before escaping the parking lot. A pursuit began where the suspect was observed striking another patrol car, a Highway Patrol cruiser, and an unrelated civilian vehicle before coming to a stop and trying to flee on foot. The suspect was taken into custody and identified as Jeramie Charlton, who had a warrant out on a probation violation in Marion County, and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.

Two women suffered serious injuries during the incident. 32-year-old Rebecca Daugherty of Hannibal was taken to Quincy, while 27-year-old Brittany Rayl of New London was taken to Hannibal. A picture of Charlton accompanies this story.
