Cairo Upends Delta, Earns Shot At State Title

The Cairo Ladycats are in the state championship after a 64-55 win over Delta in the MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown semifinal at Mizzou Arena. Cairo brought the energy in the opening frame.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Delta captured its first lead at the 2:52 mark in the second quarter. Cairo fought back to lead by six at the half. The Ladycats seized the moment in the third.

Brumley’s make was part of an 11-0 Cairo run. The Ladycats kept Delta at bay in the fourth, using free throws to seal the win. Cairo coach Brian Winkler.

Olivia Cross led all scorers with 19 points. Avery Brumley finished with 18 points and four boards. Winkler talked about preparing for a state title game.

Delta was led by Grace Ancell with 15. The second-ranked Bobcats lost for just the second time this season.
