Cairo Rolls to Sweep of Sturgeon

Cairo rolled to a sweep of Sturgeon Tuesday night.

The boys won 60-40 and two key runs played a pivotal role. The first was a 15-0 run that started after the Bearcats were held scoreless for over half of the first quarter. Sturgeon cut the deficit to six at half before the second run.

Austin Ward with the call on Glory 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. That shot sparked an 11-0 burst and Cairo coasted from there. Coach Nic Zenker walked through the sequences.

Logan Head finished with 29 points. Sturgeon coach Kyle Ellison said common struggles hurt his team again.

The Bulldogs were led by Alex Ducayne’s 11 points and fall to 5-9. Cairo moves to 7-5.

The Lady Bearcats cruised to a 75-39 victory. Macie Harman scored 18 points for coach Brian Winkler.

Avery and Gracie Brumley each hit three triples and chipped in 15 and 12 respectively. Jersey Bailey put in 11. Cairo is now 11-1 while Sturgeon is 4-10.
