Cairo Ladycats Capture Second Place At MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown

Platte Valley pulled away late for a 64-52 victory over Cairo in the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls Championship Game at Mizzou Arena. Platte Valley took a 30-17 lead into the halftime break. Cairo went down by 12 to start the third. That’s when the Ladycats counterattack began.

Cairo was led by Olivia Cross and Avery Brumley with 15 and 12 points respectively. Senior Avery Martin finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Winkler talked about the approach for next year.

26-6 Cairo graduates three other seniors in Jersey Bailey, Kennedy Kearns and Journey Sander. Platte Valley earns its third state title in five seasons. The Ladycats finish runners-up at state for the second time in program history.
