A Boonville man has been arrested in relation to a Montgomery County shooting on Eastbound I-70 Tuesday Afternoon. 28-year-old Chad Michael Kennedy is charged with three counts of first degree assault, one count of armed criminal action and six counts of unlawful use of a weapon. The preliminary investigation indicated Kennedy fired shots from a moving vehicle, striking and disabling another vehicle, which was also traveling eastbound. After the shooting, the victim’s vehicle came to rest in the median near the 175-mile marker. The victim’s vehicle was occupied by three people and no injuries were reported. Troopers learned that after the victim’s vehicle came to a stop, two tractor-trailer drivers parked their trucks around the van to shield it from additional gun fire. Kennedy then fled the area, ultimately traveling westbound on Interstate 70. Kennedy is being held at the Montgomery County jail without bond.
