Atlanta Welcomes Milan for Basketball Doubleheader

Atlanta will host Milan in a varsity basketball doubleheader Tuesday night as both schools look to build momentum into the Christmas holiday. In the girls’ game, Atlanta enters with a 5-4 record. The Lady Hornets have played much of the season without their top player Kylie Magers, due to an ankle injury. Atlanta coach Jason White says he likes the way the girls have stepped up in Magers’ absence.

Milan snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating Maysville 60-20 on Friday night. The 3-4 Lady Cats are searching for consistent offense following the graduation of their all-time leading scorer Cady Pauley. Milan coach Ched Hurley says the biggest issue facing his team offensively is turnovers.

The boys’ game features a pair of one loss teams. The Hornets avenged their lone loss to Green City by beating the Gophers last week 77-70. They will be looking to avenge another loss Tuesday night after falling to Milan last season on the road. White says that loss is fresh in his players’ minds.

Milan also brings a five-game winning streak into the game. The Wildcats defeated Maysville in a Grand River Conference game Friday night. They will be dealing with a challenge in Atlanta’s 6’8 post player Roman Phillips. Milan coach Andrea Dabney says they need to challenge everything defensively.

Coverage from Atlanta High School is scheduled to begin at 6:15 pm on KRES 104.7 and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
