USDA Pursuing Development of Urban Agriculture Plots

USDA’s mission to promote agriculture is not limited to Rural America’s fields of rowcrops, pastures and orchards. An increasing number of parcels in urban areas are being developed to produce food for their neighborhoods. Joe Aull, state executive director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency, says the trend is present in Kansas City and St Louis.

St Louis is one of 11 metropolitan areas that USDA has designated as an urban agriculture center, opening the area to increased funding opportunities.
