Untiedt Updates On Routes U and 149

Route 3 in Randolph County isn’t the only road that closed in 2021 due to a slide. Route U in Monroe County also shut down about a mile from Route 107 near Mark Twain Lake. Area Engineer Brian Untiedt (un-teet) says the solution to repair this road is much easier.

Flooding rains in June also closed a section of Route 149 in northwest Macon County, near the Adair County line. Untiedt says a game plan for re-opening the road is still to be determined.

Untiedt isn’t sure 149 will make the spring construction calendar. We recently reported that consultants recommended shifting Route 3 in Randolph County to the west and lowering the elevation to repair that stretch of road. Due to having to re-align Route 3, it likely won’t make the spring construction schedule.
